Meet Daisy , our sweet flower child, and her comprehensive wellness plan.
Daisy’s Story
Daisy was two years old when she joined our program and suffered from skin irritation and joint pain as a result of being overweight.
Her parents were expecting a human puppy and were also concerned about her leash reactivity and pulling while walking.
Licensed Veterinary Care
We initiated a veterinary consultation to assess Daisy’s overall health, confirm her allergies, and evaluate the severity of her joint pain.
We identified the likely cause of her skin irritation as an allergy to ingredients in her food. To support her dietary adjustments, we recommended a balance of supplements which we monitored and adjusted over time.
To help manage her pain, our veterinarian suggested a non-steroid anti-inflammatory prescription which was also monitored and adjusted over time.
We established routine follow-up appointments to discuss her progress and long-term veterinary care.
Tailored Wellness Plan
Informed by our veterinary assessment, we adjusted Daisy’s food, adding a healthy ‘home cooked’ element and incorporating supplements to her meals for digestive and joint health.
With Daisy’s allergy and weight issues, we needed to create a tustomized exercise plan that fit her needs and considered the lifestyle of mom and dad.
We gradually increased Daisy’s low-impact daily exercise to help her shed the weight while avoiding putting too much stress on her joints.
Critically, we incorporated mental stimulation activities to keep her mind engaged and focused.
Custom Training Program
Daisy’s veterinary and wellness plans informed the development of her custom training program. We developed a step-by-step written guide for her parents to follow and supplemented that guide with virtual coaching sessions and in-home training with our certified dog trainers and behaviorists.
Using a science-based approach, our team helped Daisy’s desensitization and counterconditioning when encountering new sights, sounds, people, and dogs while on leash and in the home.
We gradually introduced Daisy to the sights, sounds, and smells of a newborn human. With clear boundaries set by her parents, we empowered Daisy to self-regulate her stress and anxiety by creating safe and comfortable spaces for her when she is feeling overwhelmed.
